bio
Stela brings an exceptional combination of elite playing experience, high-level coaching expertise, and a genuine passion for helping athletes grow both on and off the court.
A Highland Park native, Stela was a four-year varsity starter at Highland Park High School, where she became the school’s all-time leader in both kills and digs. She earned CSL Conference Player of the Year honors, was a four-time All-CSL selection, and played her club volleyball with Wildcat Juniors before continuing her career on scholarship at Miami University (OH). During her collegiate career, Stela played outside and right side for four seasons, served as team captain for two years, and helped lead the RedHawks to three Mid-American Conference Championships.
Stela began coaching while finishing college at Borderline Volleyball Club before returning home to the Chicago area, where she has spent the past six years coaching with Wildcat Juniors/MOD, working with top teams in the 15-18 age divisions. Throughout her coaching career, she has helped guide teams to two Top 30 finishes in the nation in the Open Division, including one Top 15 finish. She also served as a Positional Lead within the gym, working primarily with Pin attackers.
Beyond her volleyball résumé, Stela has a remarkable ability to build meaningful, lasting relationships with her athletes. As a Clinical Mental Health Therapist who works with youth clients, she brings a unique perspective to coaching—helping players develop confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the mental tools needed to thrive both in competition and in life.
